Care instrucions

Proper aftercare for your new tattoo ...

Improper aftercare can lead to complications in the healing process and consequently result in a bad quality of the tattoo. Therefore, you should definitely carry out the aftercare instructions YOUR tattoo artist gave you because this will only be in your favor.

Let’s assume that you had your tattoo done two days ago; there will be scub on the tattoo in one or two days. Do NOT scrape off this scub; it will fall off by itself in one or two weeks.

During this time, please do not the following:

Take off the cling wrap after ca. 2.5 hours and wash the tattoo with fresh water, dab it dry with a clean towel or paper towel. After that, apply ointment or aloe vera gel with washed hands and put new cling wrap over the tattoo. Depending on when your tattoo appointment was, repeat this procedure before going to bed.

Take off the cling wrap the next morning and wash the tattoo with fresh water. Dry the tattoo and do NOT put cling wrap over it for around 30 minutes. If the tattoo still weeps, apply ointment or aloe vera gel again and put new cling wrap over the tattoo. Repeat this procedure before going to bed.

If the tattoo does not weep anymore, you don’t need to put cling wrap over it any longer. Just apply ointment gently and always (even when you are sleeping) cover the tattoo with dry, clean clothes.

ATTENTION! Do only apply little/few ointment; it must be totally absorbed by the skin before covering it with clothes again and before going to bed. Otherwise, the clothes will stick to the tattoo.

You can shower as usual, but do NOT wash the tattoo with soap (ph-adjusted only), shower gel or the like. If foam gets on the tattoo, please rinse off with clear water.

Do NOT apply vaseline, skin cream, moisturizer, rich oil-based cream or Chap Stick on the tattoo! Only use ointment or aloe vera gel!!!

It’s very important that the scab of the tattoo does NOT get damaged, scraped off, ripped open or damaged in any other way. If the scab gets damaged, scars could be left on the tattoo, the outlines could run, the colors could dull or fair/light chaps and spots could remain. If any of this is the case, you need to get a touchup of the tattoo.

While the tattoo is still healing, you also should NOT take sunbaths, NOT go to a tanning booth (for ca. 3 months), NOT swim in chlorine or salt water (also NOT in quarry ponds) and NOT take baths (only shower)!

Should you have any questions during the healing process, you can call or visit us every day (except Thursdays and Sundays) from 12.00 to 18.00 p.m. There is always someone from our team in the studio who can advise and help you.

Please come to our studio for checking purposes after six or 8 weeks, so that we can check if the tattoo healed well or if we need to make an appointment for a touchup. (In our studio touchups are free of charge within the first six months.)

It’s self-evident that we want your tattoo to heal without any complications and that you are satisfied with the healed result.

Therefore, please heed the advice of your tattoo artist! There is, of course, no way that we can pay attention on how you “treat” your tattoo after leaving our studio. That’s why we tattoo all our customers on their own responsibility and risk.
