Questions and Answers concerning tattoos:
What do I have to pay attention to when choosing a tattoo?
Take a closer look at his/her photo albums. Those will give information about important criteria like outlining (should be evenly and not wiggly), shading (should be smooth), or the colors (should be luscious and – look uniform). Take your time when you run over the pages of pictures. Watch out if you can see differences between the pictures, because there have been tattoo artists who showed pictures of tattoos which they hadn’t don’t by themselves. If there are no pictures at all or if the tattoo artist says “the pictures are still being developed” you should go and find another tattoo studio that is more professional.
Does the price say anything about the quality?
Do NOT make your decision dependent on the price when it comes to choosing a tattoo or a tattoo artist. However, you can find really good artists who offer fair prices but also bad skilled artists who charge you very high prices for badly made tattoos. Generally speaking, you should never pick a tattoo artist just because of the prices he/she offers; because, unlike a pair of shoes, a tattoo can NOT be changed and replaced. You should always keep that in mind when you decide which tattoo artist to pickWorking experience and certificates
Unfortunately, the years of a tattoo artist’s working experience are not reliable criteria for the quality of an artist’s work, though some might think that. The number and the size of tattoos, as well as any “certificates”, also tell us nothing about the quality of the work. Everybody can buy “certificates” for only a few euros at tattoo shops online. You should take the decision, which studio to choose, very serious, because you will not only risk suffering health problems, but you will also help a “botcher” to make a living out of his/her “art”.How can I prepare myself before getting a tattoo?
You should come to your appointment well-rested, relaxed and without time pressure. You should have eaten a couple of hours before the appointment and definitely NOT with an empty stomach, because otherwise you might get cardiac and circulatory problems/troubles. Do NOT consume any alcohol or drugs and too much coffee the day before your appointment because otherwise your body produces more blood serum during the tattooing. The tattooing would take needlessly longer and the serum would hinder the artist in his work. When you get in contact at work with dirt, dust (i.e. plaster, cement, flour), blood, lube, oil, acid vapors, acid, high temperatures, chlorine water, etc.), you should make an appointment when you are off from work for a while. If that is not possible, tell the tattoo artist about it and he/she will give you special aftercare advice. Do not get an appointment short before or short after a holiday in which you are going to regions where your new tattoo will be exposed to strong solar radiation or when you stayed outside in the sun for days. You should also not go to a tanning booth two days before your appointment. Inform the tattoo artist about existing allergy or bring, if necessary, your allergy ID. If you are HIV-positive or have hepatitis, inform the artist before the appointment. You should NOT get a tattoo when you have epilepsy, hemophilia or diabetes or when you are advanced in pregnancy.Do you provide aftercare for the tattoo?
Please come back to the studio 6 to 8 weeks after the tattoo was done so we can check if your tattoo healed properly or if you need to get an appointment for a touchup. (In our shop: touchups are free of charge within 6 months, after that the costs go to your expense) ![]()
